Product Recalls: Cribs, Jackets, and Bikes

Bicycles using RockShox Domain 302 and 318 bicycle forks The recall involves RockShox Domain 302 and 318 bicycle forks with steel steerer sold for installation on new bicycles. Only those forks manufactured between March 2008 and October 2008 with dates codes 09T8 through 42T8 are included in this recall. The date code is located on the back of the fork crown and on the lower leg. The RockShox Domain fork was installed on Transition Bottle Rocket bicycles, and may have been installed on Rocky Mountain Flatline 1, Rocky Mountain Slayer SS350, and Rocky Mountain Slayer SS396 bicycles.

Girls Blue Denim Passport Jackets by Ms. Bubbles Inc., of Los Angeles, Calif. The recalled blue denim jackets have a white terrycloth underlay lining and drawstring. The jackets were sold in children’s sizes medium (7-10), large (11-14) and x-large (15-16). Style number BF1400 KP is printed on the hang tag attached to the garment. Remove the drawstring from the jacket.

Jardine Cribs This recall involves three models of Jardine wooden cribs with the date codes identified below. Cribs with other date codes are not affected by this recall. The date code and model number are printed on the label located on the inside of the bottom rail of the headboard or footboard. The wooden crib slats can break, creating a gap, which can pose an entrapment and strangulation hazard to infants and toddlers.

Children’s Products Recalled 12-27-08

Hockey Helmets This recall involves RBK and CCM brand hockey helmets. Helmets included in this recall have a HECC sticker with date code JUN - 2013. HECC stickers and model numbers are located on the back of the helmets. This recall is only for certain model numbers please look at the full recall by clicking on the product name above.

Evenflo Majestic(tm) High Chairs The recall involves Evenflo Majestic(tm) high chairs made before January 23, 2007. The recalled high chairs have the following model numbers: 3001395A, 3001583, 3001633A, 3001669, 3001700A, 3001713, 3001713A, 3001730A, 3001732, 3001732A, 3001733, 3001742, 3001742A, and 3001756. The model number and production date can be found on a white label on the seatback. “Evenflo” is printed on the label and on the push button on the front of the tray. The screws holding the back of the chair on can come out allowing children to fall out of the chair.  This poses a choking hazard as well as serious injuries.

Children’s Jewelry imported by Aloha 808 Trading, of Honolulu, Hawaii This recall involves eight styles of silver-colored metal jewelry: flower ear ring, three flower pendant, necklace with red flower and metal leaf pendant, and miniature sandals in aqua, purple, green, orange and turquoise. These have been recalled due to high levels of lead.  This jewelry was sold exclusively in Hawaii.

Phil & Teds Dash Buggy Strollers This recall involves Phil & Teds Dash Buggy strollers with article #7-1080005 (red) and article #7-10080005 (black). The strollers have a metal frame with three wheels, a cloth seat, and a canopy. The Phil & Teds logo is located on the crotch piece of the harness. The article number can be found on the safety strap hanging from the handle.  The handle might not latch properly and break also causing a fall hazard. 

Foursquare Hooded Jackets This recall involves the Foursquare hooded jackets with drawstrings in boys and girls sizes XS, S, M, L, and XL. The jackets come in various colors and patterns and have a logo showing four adjacent, vertically offset squares on the sleeve, waist, breast and/or back of the jacket, depending on the specific model. These were recalled due to having a drawstring in the hood.

This was recalled due to violation of the Federal Lead Paint Standards.  There have been reports of infants getting lead poisoning from this baby furniture! Newport Rubbed Black 4-in-1 Cribs and Matching Furniture The recalled cribs and furniture are made of wood and have a rubbed black finish. Only the “Newport Rubbed Black” cribs and matching furniture manufactured in Indonesia between April 2006 and November 2008 are included in this recall. The model number, date, and country of manufacture are printed on the label attached to the side panel of the crib and the date of manufacture is on the back panel of the furniture. Calypso Steel Drums The recalled steel drum is made of steel and comes with two wooden drum sticks and a wooden stand. The sides of the drums are painted red. The drum pan is painted black with silver markings to show the location of notes. Each rim is stamped with a #5 or #6. Not all drums stamped with a #5 are affected by this recall. This drum set has been recalled also due to lead.

Toy recalls for Lead Exposure

Groovy Fashions(tm) Sassy Jammies(tm) Doll Clothing Sets The recalled doll clothing set features a two-piece pajama set, eye mask and slippers. The pajama top is pink satin and the pants are dark brown with multiple-colored flowers printed on them.

Army Figures imported by OKK Trading Company The recall involves 7 ½ inch tall plastic toy Army figures. The figures are dressed in Army fatigues and have guns. Surface paint on the face of the Army figures contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

“Dinosaur Epoch” Toy Dinosaurs The recalled “Dinosaur Epoch” Toy Dinosaurs are battery-operated dinosaurs that move and make sounds. The recall includes the orange-colored “Dinosaur Brachiosaurus” (model #1033) and the green, yellow and orange-colored “Dinosaur Carnotaurus” (model #1030). The model number can be located on the toy’s battery cover.

Gas Fireplace Insert Recall

Napoleon Propane Gas Fireplace Inserts This recall involves Napoleon propane GDI44 gas fireplace inserts. Model number GDI44 is located on the front cover of the operating instructions or on the rating label found behind the right side panel next to the insert’s viewing glass. The glass size is 36″ wide and 22″ high. Napoleon natural gas GDI44 inserts are not affected by this recall.

This was recalled because of a delayed ignition caused by a build up of propane gas.  It can cause the glass front to shatter.

Window Treatment Recalls

Insulated Black-Out Roller Shades and Insulated Roman Shades
This recall includes all insulated black-out roller shades (colors: white, cream, harvest, light sage) and insulated Roman shades sizes 48, 60 and 72 (colors: white, natural, sage, sienna, blue, goldenrod, mahogany, terracotta). The shades have RN number 107875 printed on the care label of the shade and identify the manufacturer on the “Installation and Care Instructions.”  These were recalled after a 2-yr old girl nearly strangled to death from slipping off of a radiator she was standing on while placing the cord around her neck.  Her heroic 5-yr old brother lifted her up and got her out of the cord.

IRIS and ALVINE Roman Blinds These blinds were sold exclusively at IKEA stores.
This recall involves all sizes of IRIS and ALVINE Roman Blinds in white. The blinds have a sewn-in label at the top edge of the blind with the IKEA logotype, article name (IRIS or ALVINE), 5-digit supplier number 19799 or 21369, four digit date stamp (YYWW) and the words “Made in India”. On the bottom edge of the blind there is a sewn-in orange/white safety warning label. The blinds are made from 100% cotton.  This recall was put into place after an infant died from getting strangled by an inner cord that is only exposed on the back side.

Product Recalls 12/03/08

Toy Xylophones  This recall involves a miniature toy xylophone with item number KW20119. The toy xylophone measures about 12 inches long by 5 inches wide. It has a lavender frame, a lavender mallet, and four bars which are orange, yellow, green, and white. The item number can be found on the packaging. These were imported from China by King Import Warehouse, of Dallas, Texas.

“Mini-Televisor” Toys  This recall involves a plastic TV toy. This plastic TV toy has a microphone and is powered by 2 AA size batteries. There is a “TV Painting Board” sticker label on the front panel and carrying handle of the toy.  This toy was imported from Hong Kong by OKK Trading, of Los Angeles, Calif.

My Little Train Classics Toy Trains  My Little Train Classics wooden toy trains are available in two styles. One, with a yellow cab, blue body and six red wheels and the other with a blue cab, red boiler, wooden base and four black wheels. The item #5293 is the same for both styles and is located in the lower left hand corner on the front of the package.  Ja-ru, Inc. of Jacksonville, FL recalled the trains because they have samll parts that can come off which children can get choked on.

CORAL Swim ‘N Score Pool Stix  The recalled Pool Stix are weighted plastic tubes, which stand upright when tossed into water. The sticks are about 8″ long and were sold in packs of 6 in various colors. The UPC (#4969382814) is printed on the product’s packaging.  These dive sticks also pose an impalement risk since they also will stand up.  What really gets me is these type of sticks were BANNED in April of 2001 yet are still being sold in America.

Children’s Two-Way Radios by Cobra Electronics  The recall involves two-way radios with the 300 mah “CEL” batteries. The walkie talkie style radios are made of pink plastic and come in purple packaging. Product number PR191-2VP is located on the front of the packaging and on the label inside the battery compartment. The batteries are standard AAA Nickle Metal Hydride battery cells with a black wrapper with the battery name 300 mah (CEL) with the date code (TF or RF) on the battery itself. The batteries were recalled due to leakage of chemicals that can possibly burn you.

 Best Friends Yin Yang Necklaces Sets  This recall involves a set of two necklaces that have a silver-colored metal bead type chain and a lobster-claw clasp. One of the necklaces has  a single, metal pendant with the word “Best” attached to a black, yin metal pendant. The other necklace has the word “Friends” attached to a white, yang  metal pendant. Claire’s Boutiques Inc. recalled the necklaces due to high levels of lead which can lead to lead poisoning.

Arizona(r) Newborn and Infant Denim Pants  The recall involves Arizona(r) brand newborn and infant girl’s and boy’s denim pants. They were sold in sizes 0-3 months, 3-6 months and 6-9 months. Only those pants made in Bangladesh are affected; pants made in China are not included in the recall. The country of origin is located on a label sewn into the waistband. These pants have been recalled because the snap on the waist can come off posing a choking hazard.

Bead Maze Toys by ImagiPLAY  The recalled products are painted wooden toys with beads that slide on a curved metal track. The product was sold in three styles: the Apple Tree Bead Maze, the Cactus Tree Bead Maze and the Palm Tree Bead Maze. These toys have been recalled because of the trees coming off which leaves a metal screw sticking up.  Several children have been cut by the screws.

Young Colors Children’s Hooded Jackets  The cotton knit and woven hooded jackets have a drawstring through the hood and waist. They were sold in sizes 12 months through size 10 in a variety of solid colors and prints. “Young Colors” is sewn into the jacket tag located at the neck.  These were recalled because of the drawstrings which children can get hung on objects and get hurt or strangled.

Dive Sticks sold at Target  The recalled dive sticks were sold in a bundle of three in multiple colors: light blue, aqua green, fluorescent yellow, royal blue, and red. The tag accompanying the dive sticks contains: “Dive Toys” or “Diving Game” and has a white small parts warning label in the upper right hand corner. The words “Made in China” are printed in the lower right hand corner. These sticks were recalled because they may stay standing up and someone could get impaled on them.

Century Cookware Stainless Steel Stockpots This recall involves the 8-quart, 12-quart, 16-quart, and 20-quart Century Cookware Stainless Steel Stockpots with glass lids. “Century Cookware” is marked on the front and on the bottom of each pot. They have been recalled due to the metal handles coming off during use.

Casper the Friendly Ghost(r) Halloween Mini-Figurines  The recalled Casper the Friendly Ghost(r) mini-figurines are made of resin and paper, and are three inches tall. They were sold in mini bags decorated with a spider and web design. The Casper the Friendly Ghost(r) figurines are dressed as: Dracula in a red spider bag, Skeleton in a green spider bag, Devil in a purple spider bag, Mummy in an orange spider bag, Casper(r) in a blue spider bag, and Wendy the Witch(r) is in a yellow spider bag. The figurines are stamped with TM & (c)Harvey Ent. “Coyne’s & Company” and “CP1030″ are printed on a white sticker on the bottom of the bags. These figurines have been recalled due to lead paint violations.

Wooden Toys by Earth Friendly  This recall involves three models of wooden toys. Moee the car, Cubby the stackable bear and the Bell rattle. The toys are painted in glossy red, orange, green, red, black and yellow.  These toys have small parts that can come off and choke babies as well as the rattle handle violates the voluntary rattle standards.

Fit & Fresh(tm) Smooth Blend Mixers  This recall involves Fit & Fresh(tm) Smooth Blend Mixers with item number 770FF and model number SB-19. The white mixers have four components - a base unit, blade assembly, blending cup and cap. Fit & Fresh(tm) is printed on the front of the base. The recalled mixers can be identified by the date code, a four-digit number located on the bottom of the base. Date codes included in the recall are: 2707, 4407, 5207 and 0308.  These have been recalled due to them unexpectedly cutting on when putting the cup off or on causing the blades to start up.

Alnico Bar Magnets Recalled

Alnico Bar Magnets which are manufactured by Home Science Tools of Billings Montana have been recalled.  The magnets were part of a science kit or came packaged as a pair and sold between May 2008 and September 2008. These magnets were painted red and blue with lead paint.  Coming from
China, this really does not surprise me. They were sold as item number   MG-BAR3AL and sold at web retailers and by mail order.  If you have purchased these, take them away and contact Home Science Tools to receive replacement magnets.
